Self-Defence Shouldn’t Start With Punching Someone in the Face.
Most self-defence training wasn’t designed with women in mind. This is.
Train as a qualified women-only self-defence instructor and deliver prevention-first workshops grounded in psychology, de-escalation and real-world experience.

Violence against women and girls is rising.
In the UK, a woman is killed by a man every three days.
1 in 4 women will experience domestic abuse in her lifetime.
The majority of women have experienced harassment in public spaces.

The National Police Chiefs’ Council has called it a “national emergency.”
And yet most self-defence training still teaches women to punch harder – not think smarter.
That is a BIG Problem.
Because real-world violence doesn’t start in a dojo.
It starts in car parks. In relationships. On nights out. Online. At work.
It starts with coercion. With intimidation. With someone testing boundaries.
By the time someone is “throwing a punch”, the situation has already escalated.
And if the only tool a woman has been given is to hit back, we’ve failed her.
Most traditional self-defence courses:
- Are designed around male bodies and
male aggression - Focus on striking instead of prevention
- Ignore de-escalation and attacker psychology
- Aren’t trauma-informed
- And don’t prepare instructors to handle
the emotional reality in the room
Women don’t just need to know how to hit.
They need to know how to spot danger early, avoid escalation, and handle situations safely if they do turn physical.
And the people teaching them need to understand the full picture.

Women don’t just need to know how to hit.
They need to know how to spot danger early, avoid escalation, and handle situations safely if they do turn physical.
And the people teaching them need to understand the full picture.

That’s exactly why JustStaySafer exists.
Because women don’t need more “confidence” classes.
They need training that’s designed for women’s bodies, women’s lived reality,
and the situations women actually face.
And they need more women teaching it.
Right now, there’s a massive gap:
Recent data shows 24.5% of university students experienced sexual harassment – but only 13.2% formally reported it. Institutions are realising they need prevention and skills-based options, not just complaint processes.
There’s growing demand from every direction – but there aren’t enough properly qualified women instructors to meet it.
If you’ve ever watched what’s happening and thought:
“I wish I could do something practical.”
“I wish I had the right skills to teach this.”
“I wish there were better options than macho nonsense and punch-bag drills.”
This is that “something”.
And yes – this approach actually works.
This isn’t wishful thinking.
A 2025 research review of 19 studies found that women who received structured self-defence training experienced fewer incidents of attempted rape, completed rape, and unwanted sexual contact compared to those who didn’t.
A real-world university programme showed a 57% reduction in completed rape at 6 months for women who attended vs those who signed up but didn’t.
Another study found women who’d had this kind of training had a significantly lower risk of intimate partner violence in new relationships.
Prevention-first, psychology-informed self-defence training makes a measurable difference.
The question is: who’s going to teach it?

This Is A Professional Income Stream

This training qualifies you to deliver self-defence workshops that organisations will pay for.
There is already strong demand for this work – and not enough qualified women to deliver it.

As a JustStaySafer instructor, you’ll be positioned to charge professional rates for:
- 90-minute community workshops
- Multi-session school programmes
- Corporate training days
- Ongoing partnerships with local organisations
- And more
For example:
- A single community workshop can generate over £150.
- A school programme can bring in £500-£1,000.
- A corporate training day can command £1,500 or more.
That means your training investment can be recouped in a matter of weeks – not years.
More importantly, this gives you the ability to build a consistent, meaningful income around work that matters.
You’re not guessing what to charge. You’re not improvising what to deliver. You’re not trying to piece together credibility.
You’re trained, qualified and positioned to charge accordingly.

Why Train With Me
Charlotte Male

JustStaySafer wasn’t built in a classroom.
It was built through lived experience, frontline security work and years of testing what actually works.
I’m a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu competitor. I train with my partner – he’s 6’4” and 115kg. When I teach a technique, I know it works, because I’ve tested it on someone twice my size.
I’m a qualified Physical Intervention instructor. I teach security professionals how to de-escalate and manage situations professionally.
I’m a strategic security consultant. I work at major music festivals and events. I see violence against women firsthand – how it starts, how it escalates, and how it can be prevented.
I’m a domestic abuse survivor. I’ve been in two relationships that were mentally and emotionally abusive. At the time, I didn’t recognise what they were. I 100% recognise them now. That lived experience shapes everything I teach.
And I run a profitable self-defence business. My programmes are funded by the National Lottery. I’m trusted by councils, schools, and community centres. I’ve delivered workshops to hundreds of women.
When I ran my first taster workshop, 40 women signed up overnight. I didn’t have to convince anyone there was a need – they already knew.
After one of my sessions, a 16-year-old girl looked me in the eye and said: “You’re saving lives.”
That’s when I knew this couldn’t just be me. We need more women teaching this.
JustStaySafer is different. The techniques are pressure-tested in real-world environments. The teaching framework has been refined through delivering sessions to hundreds of women.
When you train with me, you’re learning from someone who actually does this work – profitably, professionally, every day.
And you’re joining a movement committed to raising the standard of how self-defence is taught to women.

Women are already changing their lives around fear. Avoiding routes. Skipping runs. Sending “text me when you’re home” messages and holding their breath until the reply comes.
And the people who are supposed to be teaching them to feel safer? Most of them are men, teaching techniques designed for men, with no understanding of what women actually face.
That’s not good enough.
We need more women teaching this. Women who understand. Women who’ve lived it. Women who can show up with real skills, real qualifications, and real empathy.
If that’s you – if you’ve felt the pull to do something meaningful, something practical, something that actually helps – this is your opportunity.
Be the instructor your community is waiting for.

Because the methodology is designed specifically for women’s bodies, lived experiences and the environments women navigate. The learning environment is also trauma-aware and supportive. And because women need more women teaching this.
This is a professional qualification. Full attendance is required to complete the training and assessments.
Your background is an asset. But you may not have formal training qualifications, specific methodology for teaching civilian women, or business skills for running workshops. This gives you the structure to turn your experience into professional income.
